#10 – Spotlight on Jimmy Palmiotti & Amanda Conner
If Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner are at #10, it means I had a LOT of really cool stuff happen at SDCC this year, because I LOVE Jimmy & Amanda.  These two are such a genuine and fun couple, attending a panel with them is very much like having a conversation with them, they are very engaged with their audience.  A lot of panels seem like the pros talking at their audience.  These two talk with their audience.

The panel started out with a presentation of the coveted Inkpot Award to both Amanda & Jimmy.  The Inkpot is awarded to to individuals for contributions to  comics, science fiction/fantasy, film, television, animation, and/or fandom.  I’ve been at many panels over the years where these statues were handed out to the panelists.  It’s always a surprise and the honorees are always delighted.

Though questions and conversation skewed towards they very popular Harley Quinn series from DC, with some cool conversation about picking out scents and making the story work for an upcoming “scratch & sniff” issue, there were some questions about their creator-owned projects and about the artistic process in general, two topics that are personal favorites of mine.

If you’re ever at a convention with a panel with either or both of these creators do yourself a favor and arrange to attend!
